Preserve your wood's beauty and structural integrity by following through with a regular wood care maintenance program. Damaging effects of Iowa weather on exposed, unprotected wood begins immediately and lasts forever. "Pressure treated" does not mean "weather-proofed".

HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU HAVE YOUR DECK WEATHERPROOFED?
- Frequency: It is recommended to reapply protective weatherproofing every 2–4 years. Most products will last at least 2 years if applied properly.
- Environmental Factors: If the deck receives excessive sun exposure or remains in the shade (leading to mildew), more frequent reapplication may be necessary.
- New Decks: Wood damage begins as soon as it is exposed to the elements. Generally, new wood should not be stained for 2–3 months to allow it to dry, though some wood types can be treated sooner once they are sufficiently dry.
Have COMPOSITE decking?
While composite decking is often marketed as "maintenance-free," it remains susceptible to ultraviolet damage, mildew, and staining. C&C Home Services provides protective coatings designed to address these issues and preserve your deck's appearance.
If your decking has weathered or lost its original luster, we can apply a transparent protectant to restore a color you are happy with. Additionally, these coatings help guard against permanent stains.
